“Somethings you cannot leave behind…your history will pursue you doggedly…a silent treacherous stowaway.”

This is a book that sticks. Long after I turned the final page of The Paris Hours, the story and its characters continue to cross my mind. Told over the course of a single day in 1927 in the splendid city of post-war Paris, Alex George takes his readers on an exquisite journey of four beautifully, tragic characters, all searching for something they’ve lost. This quartet of characters, each with their own delicate story, do not cross paths until the very end and it’s an ending that is an unforgettable collision. I was transported and moved by every word of The Paris Hours and after reading the surprising ending, am compelled to start from the beginning and read it again.
