Hello hello, and welcome back to the blog! We are so happy to have you here and hope you are enjoying the content we are putting out. We are really trying to grow our blog and Instagram so please feel free to share, and let us know what you want to see more of here!
Throughout this month, I have really strayed away from my structured "what I am going to read next" mentality. I have been leaning into just picking up the first book on my shelf that catches my eye and reading that book! It's been a nice change of pace and hopefully contributed to a wide array of books this month.
Please enjoy my reviews below, and if you would like to purchase any of these books, please use our affiliate links! Thank you so much!
The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly
Another 600 page book! As I said last month, I am trying to work through my bigger, more indulgent TBR reads. This book should have hit all the marks for me - London setting, tea centric, Jack the Ripper, love story spanning many years, and more. However, I found the book to drag for me and wished it was around 300 pages...that being said, I have many friends who adored this book and loved how detailed the story was! I would definitely recommend this is you enjoy detailed storylines with a deep dive into thoughts, feelings, and emotions of its characters.
everything I know about love by Dolly Alderton
I'm low-key obsessed with Dolly and follow everything she writes on Instagram. I know that I am behind the eight ball in reading her books but WOW am I happy to did! She is so witty and a fantastic story teller.
This book is mainly stories and the lessons gleaned from those experiences that make up the entirety its content. I found myself nodding and smiling along at every single line! Dolly explores her life in London and beyond, and I absolutely loved this fast, light, heartwarming book. Would highly recommend!
This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens
This book is about timing, "luck", love, mother-child relationships, and much more. I would categorize it as a classic British rom-com story. I would say I usually read one a year in this niche genre. Minnie and Quinn were the first children born in London in 1990 - and their lives somehow have intersected at multiple points even though they have very different upbringings, family dynamics, and more. Made me think about how "chance" has a role in our lives? Altogether, I found this book to be delightful and was engaged the whole time. Super short book so very do-able to read in one sitting (which is what I did) - would recommend! Perfect beach and/or vacation read too!
A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes
As we know, I cannot read enough about Greek mythology and this book hit the spot for me. Different from past reads in this niche genre, it centers around the forgotten, less focused on, women involved in the Trojan war in various aspects. I have done a full plot breakdown and personal review in a separate blog post, so go check that out as well!
"And so the man who can win the war can rarely survive the peace."
HIGHLY recommend this one!
The Queen of Hearts by Kimmery Martin
Something major happened between Zadie and Emma during their third year of medical school, but they have promised to never speak of it. However, when someone from their past resurfaces in their present day lives, it is impossible to not bring up the events that went down in their third year of med school. The combination of medical drama and friendship drama kept this book moving at a fast clip, and it read like a thriller - I could not put this down! There were hidden depths of deceit, lovers, friend relations, and so much more! I would highly highly recommend this one, and especially if you are in the medical field! I'll say it again - could not put it down.
The teas I have been indulging in this month are actually herbal! I know, I know. I usually come through with the caffeinated teas but this month I am trying to balance out my body a bit more. That being said, I have been drinking Echinacea Immune Support by Yogi. It is such a subtle flowery flavor, and is giving me immune support (yay)! Highly recommend trying this one.
